Quaternary ammonium compounds are used in disinfectants and sanitizers to treat swimming pools and industrial water reservoirs, as antiseptics for cleaning wounds, skin, and burns, in hair conditioners, as softeners for textiles and paper, and as pigment dispersers; [Reference #1]
