Oral LD50 (rat) >2500 mg/kg; [ChemIDplus] It is toxic to rats if added to food at 3% for 24 months--retards animal growth; [HSDB] No effects observed in a 2-year feeding study of rats at doses up to 1125 mg/kg-bw/day, the highest dose tested; Not irritating to rabbit skin or eye; Not mutagenic in in vitro tests; [Reference #1]
