Zinc chromates are used primarily in priming paints to prevent corrosion. They are also used as pigments. [ACGIH]

Comments

Occupational exposure can cause skin ulcers, lung irritation, and lung cancer. [HSDB] Kidney injury has been reported in workers exposed to hexavalent chromium compounds; [ACGIH] Inhalation may cause irritation; Asthma and skin sensitization are potential adverse effects; [ICSC] "Excess risk for lung cancer has been clearly established in facilities where zinc chromate was produced."
